Thought on Always Having an Opinion

In our modern culture, with its chronological snobbery and its unwarranted belief in its great wisdom and knowledge, as well as with the insidious intellectual effects that arise from unmerited universal suffrage and democracy, nearly all people feel the need to voice their opinion all to often, for nearly all people feel like they have something important to contribute to nearly all topics, and that their opinion is somehow relevant to the matter at hand, whatever that matter might be; but this, of course, is absurd, for all of us know barely anything in terms of the totality of knowledge even if we might be experts in one area, and so remember that the truly wise know when to admit their lack of knowledge in a given field or on a given topic rather than the fool who thinks he should and must comment on everything that his ears hear.
