Thought

From a psychological perspective, simply denying the existence of a thing is often mentally much easier than accepting that the thing exists and constantly struggling against it; in light of this latter point, it is thus not unreasonable to suspect that one of the main reasons why certain atheists–in the teeth of the evidence–wish to deny that the man Jesus even existed is because they know that if they do admit to His existence, then the evidence for His resurrection is compelling and powerful, and hence sheer denial of His existence suddenly becomes a quite desirable option.
